
Joan Davies - Normal college, university of North Wales, Bangor, Gwynedd. Came to Spain in 1964 with my husband who worked for the Daily Mail (on the circulation side) in Europe.
First based in Fuengirola, then moved to Madrid. Changed career from teacher to journalist, and became freelance writer.
I wrote a series of educational articles for BBC and did several broadcasts for BBC Wales. Sold articles and news items to Western Mail, Cardiff the Scottish Press and Daily Express, London.
In Madrid, I became accredited by the Club Internacional de Prensa in 1966 for the Daily Express. I contributed news items on a regular basis, also society news for the William Hickey column.
In 1984 my husband and I founded Sur in English.
