Rod Younger is an Anglo-Spaniard (born in UK of Spanish parents) with over 30 years
experience of doing business in Spain. He was an international banker for fifteen years,
working primarily for Wells Fargo and Salomon Brothers.
On leaving the City in the early 1990s, Rod completed an MBA at Cranfield School of
Management and then worked as a business development consultant for a number of
UK and US companies who were seeking to enter or expand their presence in Spain.
His knowledge of retail and supply chain issues resulted in him being retained by ITIM,
a leading retail consultancy, and Cranfield Logistics, for whom he organised a number
of workshops and wrote articles on logistics issues which were published in a number of
trade publications.
As a result of his experience in both logistics and supply chain management he was
commissioned by the Financial Times to write two Management Reports – one on pan-
European logistics trends in the FMCG sector and the other on the supply chain
challenges of e-tailing. The former was published in 1997 and was one of the FT’s best
selling Management Reports and the later was published in 1998. He also co-authored a
Financial Time Management Report on Far Eastern Logistics Trends.
In 2000, Rod founded MBA-Direct, an innovative e-recruitment business which he sold
in 2006 to a leading online recruitment firm which in turn was subsequently acquired by
the Financial Times.
Rod has lived in Spain since 2002 and in 2009 published a crime thriller Deadly Secrets
(under the pseudonym Robert Tenison) based on a story of corruption in the urban
planning process, money laundering and murder in southern Spain. He has also had
several articles published in both online and offline media covering a variety of topics
from Spain’s looming banking crisis (2009); what makes Spanish Culture and Character
(2009); to the underlying problems with Spain’s economy (2010).
In 2011 Rod established Sol y Sombra Books, trading as Books4Spain, which will be an
online book store specialising in English language books and eBooks about Spain. The
business also aims to publish a limited number of books set in, or about, Spain. |
